7×9 Rectangle Granny

Yes, technically it should be rectangular granny, but rectangle granny feels better. Either way, with this pattern you’ll be whipping up 7×9″ sections in no time for Warm Up America or your favorite charity that accepts this size. Or for yourself! I love grannies for the rhythmic comfort of mindless crochet. And plus, grannies always look good!

I love this rectangle! The instructions are very clear and concise, just what a beginner needs! Thanks from a fellow ‘viller.

I really like this pattern. Could you just continue on with this pattern like a regular square one and make a big afghan out of it with the regular ww yarn? I’d like to make my daughter a different kind of afghan for Christmas and I thought this would be neat.

I like this. I think it would make an awsome large ghan. Designed to fit a bed better because of the shape.

I used a square with 5 rows of off white “flecked” cotton, blue and brown, off white, blue and brown. It made the most beautiful baby blanket for my neighbor.

I couldn’t agree more that this is simple, in fact this was only about my sixth crochet project, so it is a superior teaching pattern.

I have just started making squares for Warm Up America – my local craft store is holding a collection this month. Thanks for a great, simple pattern. I’ve been looking for ideas different from the basic stitches (that get so boring). So far, I’ve done one in SC (back loops only), one with 2 rows SC + 1 row DC, and one with a v-stitch cluster. I think this will be next! My only concern is that my paperwork says to avoid designs that are too lacey/holey so that the blankets are extra warm (NE Ohio) – do you think this one would have too many holes?
